Established in London in 1959, Paintings in Hospitals now work across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. They have developed a diverse art collection of almost 4,000 artworks and, as well as four artwork loan schemes and now deliver art engagement projects and creative activities.
Paintings in Hospitals do more than simply put paintings in hospitals. They believe that art has an important role to play in the healing process. Their research is contributing to the growing body of evidence that art improves wellbeing.
Every year their work brings comfort and reassurance to over 1.8 million people across the UK, from London to York, Cardiff to Belfast. Paintings in Hospitals work across the health and social care sectors, including in hospitals, hospices, care homes, GP surgeries, cancer centres and Special Educational Needs schools.
