3 & 7 June - Volunteer Week: Be a Zero Food Waste Hero

Why Get Involved
Did you know we waste way too much food? In the UK, it’s about 10 million tonnes per year and in many cases this food is perfectly good to eat.
Plan Zheroes tackles the issues of food waste and food poverty by inspiring businesses to donate their surplus food to charities that are feeding people in need rather than sending it to landfill. They run a twice weekly food collection at Borough Market and also operate an online platform where companies can post their donations of surplus food.
Volunteer roles include
- Collect surplus foodstuffs from Borough Market Traders
- Sort the foodstuffs for ease of collection by local charities
- Welcome and where necessary help the charities to pack up and take away the foodstuffs
