Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day is a day when traditionally people prepare themselves for the disciplines of the Lenten fast! Following previous years’ fantastic Pancake Day Races, Better Bankside is organising another race inside Borough Market’s Jubilee Market, Bankside SE1. Members of the Bankside business community will be showing off their pancake-tossing skills at the Better Bankside Pancake Day Race. The event will take place on Tuesday February 12th 2013 from 12noon – 2.00pm in Borough Market, with the races taking place at 12.30pm.
The simple relay race is open to a maximum of twenty-five teams from local businesses, each team consisting of four members. Five heats plus a winners' race run inside Borough Market's Jubilee Market will establish Bankside's best pancake tossers. The winning team will receive the Pancake Day Trophy along with a full Borough Market Kitchen Kit, which consists of Oven Glove, Apron, tea towel and cool bag. All participants will receive a Borough Market bag for taking part, thanks to the generous partnership with Borough Market.
