Come and join the Events Academy students for a fun, informal 'speed networking' activity on Thursday 16 August.  Hosted by The Marketing Store, this event is an opportunity for the students to practise their networking skills, and to find out more about the many different careers and routes into work of people working in Bankside.

Earlier in the day, the students are taking part in a networking skills workshop.  Your role at our speed networking event will be to help them put this learning into practice and build their confidence in talking to new people.  We're theming the event around 'career paths', so expect to be asked about the work you do, how you got into your current career and what sorts of decisions you made along the way.  It's an easy way to volunteer to help local young people learn more about the world of work, and inspire them to think differently about their career options.

We'll send all volunteers a short briefing beforehand with some hints and tips on how to engage the students in conversation and how to handle any difficult questions.

Refreshments will be provided.

About the Events Academy

Better Bankside’s Events Academy is an innovative work experience programme designed to give young people in Southwark unprecedented access to the expertise and knowledge of a wide range of businesses.

Each year we recruit eight to ten enthusiastic 16-21 year olds who live or study in Southwark to spend the summer working side-by-side with members of the Bankside business community to improve not only their practical skills such as CV writing, interview skills, time management and communications but also boost their confidence, resilience and professionalism in the real world of work.

If you'd like to find out more about how your business can get involved in the Events Academy, please contact Better Bankside's Corporate Responsibility Manager, rn [at] betterbankside.co.uk (subject: Events%20Academy) (Rachel Nicholson)
