Bankside Community Space
After the indulgences of the festive season let us help you to achieve a better you and a fitter Bankside for 2016. Throughout January we will be running a series of fitness and wellness activities for a better mind, body and soul. From weekly yoga to outdoor exercise sessions, a talk on nutrition, plus a selection of exclusive Buzz card offers on healthy lunches, gyms and more.
Hatha is a slower-paced stretching class with some basic pranayama breathing exercises. Pranayama practice has at its core the belief that different methods of breathing affect the body's health and life force in a profound way. Whilst we cannot control whether or not we breathe, we can control the way that we breathe. Hatha classes are gentle and a good place to learn beginner’s poses, relaxation techniques, and become comfortable with yoga. With a hatha class there may also be a seated meditation at the end of the session. This session will take place on Tuesday 19 January, 8 - 8.45am at the Bankside Community Space.
Please wear clothes that you can move easily in, bring some water along and do not eat anything heavy beforehand. No prior yoga experience (or ability to bend like a pretzel) required - this is gentle, accessible yoga. If you have a yoga mat do bring it along with you or a large towel will be perfectly fine also.
Liz Castro-Thomas has been practicing yoga for the past 18 years. Qualified to teach various types of yoga (Ashtanga/Yin/Hatha) she intends this class to be gentle, relaxing, fun, free of the no pain no gain mentality of the gym. At the end of the session you should leave with the feel good factor of being noticeably more relaxed then on arrival.
Spaces are limited so RSVP now to book your space.
