A group of local young people aged 16 -21 have joined Better Bankside as part of our annual Events Academy programme.
Over July and August, guided by the Events Academy Project Manager and from workshops with local businesses, the young people will work together as a team to organise a networking event for Bankside businesses and local residents.
Bankside was once home to the great William Shakespeare and saw him create some of his most famous works. The theme of this year’s event is awareness raising around local volunteering opportunities with Shakespeare’s Globe. This carries on the legacy of the programme of events celebrating the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death in April 2016.
The students have real ownership of their event and it is guaranteed to be unlike any networking event you have attended before.
Join this year’s Events Academy cohort, celebrate their learning and hard work, gain a new perspective on Shakespeare and how you can volunteer with the Globe.
Attendees will have the opportunity to get two free tickets to a production during the Globe's Wonder Season available to use until 16 October.
About Events Academy
Youth unemployment is a big issue and it’s becoming much harder for young people to get jobs. The Events Academy aims to change that by providing crucial exposure to different sectors and careers, valuable work experience and transferable employability skills. It also provides opportunities and experience that help the students grow their networks and get a positive start in their working life.
RSVP is essential, please let us know if you and your colleagues are able to attend by emailing info [at] betterbankside.co.uk (subject: Events%20Academy%20event)
