We launched the Bankside Film Club at the beginning of 2015, showcasing films shot and set in Bankside at the Roxy Bar and Screen.
Three months later, having screened Bankside’s best blockbusters, we have decided to reinvent the theme. Businesses based in Bankside will be invited to curate the programme, each month a different local business will choose a film that either has some significance, or is just loved amongst the team.
The new season launches on Wednesday 8 April with Star Wars. This selection comes courtesy of marketing agency Pancentric Digital, and more specifically their Product Development Engineer Jedihomer Townend. He loves the epic trilogy so much he changed his name by deed poll in tribute to his two favourite on-screen characters (the Jedi Knights and Homer Simpson). Join Better Bankside and Pancentric at the Roxy on Wednesday 8 April for this special screening.
On Wednesday 6 May catch a screening of cult gangster movie Goodfellas, chosen by the team at Gordon Ramsay’s Italian restaurant, Union Street Café.
The Bankside Film Club will take place the first Wednesday of every month after this, if you’d like to put forward a film, nl [at] betterbankside.co.uk (subject: Bankside%20Film%20Club) (get in touch).
If you work in one of the businesses in Bankside it’s free to attend, just RSVP to confirm your place.
