Bastille Festival to Take Bankside by Storm on 14th July

Press Release
Sunday 14th July, 12.00pm - 10.00pm

For the 6th year, London’s largest free Bastille Day festival will celebrate France’s national day with an extravaganza of all things French on Sunday 14th July in London’s historic Bankside.

Celebrating French food and culture, the festival will host a feast of culinary and creative delights. Throughout the day and evening Borough Market will be at the heart of the celebrations with great food from their array of French traders, wandering performers and a French themed demonstration kitchen. A fun filled programme of activities including a traditional 14th July Waiters’ Race, Pétanque, creative workshops, party games, bi-lingual story telling, face painting and gastronomic film screenings will ensure a memorable family day out.

Street entertainment including promenading performance artists and musicians promise to bring the streets to life in Bankside. Visitors can drop into a French Salon to find out about the French in London and also enjoy Bastille Day discounts in several Bankside attractions and restaurants.

The festival will be brought to a close with a traditional open air party around Borough Market until 10pm with live music, DJ, theatricalities, dancing and singing.

Peter Williams, CEO, Better Bankside, co-organisers of the event, said “the Bastille Festival promises to be an unforgettable celebration bringing together families and food lovers alongside London’s French-speaking communities and Francophiles for a great day out.”

10th - 14th July – Celebrate Bastille Festival at Vinopolis

Vinopolis' resident French wine guides will be storming the wine tasting experience all week with their favourite French wines, fancy dress, sabrage demonstrations, French nibbles and special offers on Canard-Duchêne Champagne. Vinopolis will be holding a French Wine & Cheese Matching Masterclass on the 11th July, La Fee Absinthe Masterclass on the 12th July and French Wine Labels Unravelled: What Does That Label Actually Mean Masterclass on the 13th July.
