Bankside is a world class neighbourhood with a special character and a rich heritage.
Over the past fifteen years we have worked hard to shape our district, making Bankside a place where people are proud to work and want to spend time, and growing Bankside's reputation as a place to invest.
This November we are asking you to vote for another five years of Better Bankside – of improving Bankside as a place to be and to do business, of supporting the wellbeing of employees as well as the wider local community, and of looking ahead to a secure a strong future for our neighbourhood.
From April 2020, we propose to extend the Better Bankside boundary, welcoming more businesses into the Better Bankside community. The wider area will take in sectors of the community not currently represented, including four schools. We are committed to growing our neighbourhood to create a more diverse business network, a stronger unified voice and new opportunities for all.
Every five years we ballot local businesses to make sure they want Better Bankside to continue. We have been active in the area since 2000 and after being established in the 2005 ballot, an even higher majority of 88% voted yes in 2014.
At the end of October a nominated voting contact at your business will receive a lilac voting paper for each hereditament (rateable property) you occupy. Ballot papers should be completed and posted back by 27 November 2019.
The ballot closes at 5pm on Thursday 28 November. Ballot papers can be hand delivered to Southwark Council, 160 Tooley Street. Hand over sealed envelopes to the reception team stating 'Better Bankside BID ballot'.
If a majority votes yes, Better Bankside’s third term starts on 1 April 2020.
2020 – 2025 Proposal
Over the past few months we have been working closely with local businesses and other stakeholders to co-create the 2020 – 2025 programme for Bankside. Download our 2020-25 proposal.

2020 -2025 Budget
We propose to invest in excess of £11million across the Better Bankside area over the five year term.
Budgetary planning for the 2020 - 2025 term will be based on the same framework as the current lifetime budget, which shows expenditure and income for the current five-year term. This will be developed to respond to the new challenges and opportunities of Better Bankside’s extended area in the new term.
The Theme Groups and, subsequently, the Board will start this detailed budgetary planning for 2020 - 2025 soon after the ballot result is announced in November 2019. If you would like to join other businesses in contributing to this process please contact Peter Williams (CEO) on 020 7928 3998.
