Two Bankside Urban Forest projects are set to commence on site during September.

A stretch of Great Suffolk Street, by the junction with Dolben Street, is to be upgraded to improve the pedestrian environment, with new paving, a raised table enable easier crossing of the street, tree planting, seating and more public space.  The improvements are part of a wider vision for improving the public spaces along Great Suffolk Street, a key north south route in Bankside.  The ambition is to encourage greater footfall and investment south away from the riverside through a range of projects along the street.
Meanwhile, the next stage of improvements to Flat Iron Square, will see an innovative timber structure constructed around the Island Cafe.  This structure will house an innovative and biodiverse green roof, bringing almost 100m2 of additional green space into the square.  This work complements our recent Green Infrastructure audit, carried out in partnership with partners Cross River Partnership and Greater London Authority.
