What they do:
Plan Zheroes helps to tackle food waste by connecting businesses with surplus food to charities that need it; solving two problems with one solution. They organise regular surplus food collections at Borough Market and the Real Food Market at King’s Cross, and also have an online platform where businesses can offer food donations to local charities. Their aim is to create a more sustainable and fairer food system, reducing the amount of food that goes to waste and connecting it with people struggling with food insecurity.
How you can help:
- One-off team volunteering
- Regular/ongoing volunteering
- Fundraising
- Skills sharing
Plan Zheroes relies on the support of volunteers to help with their surplus food collections and deliveries. You can get involved by helping at Borough Market, collecting surplus food from the traders, preparing it for local charities and community organisations. Or, if you’re a cyclist, you can sign up as a bike volunteer, helping deliver donated food to organisations that can’t get to the market.
Other ways you can help include financial support, raising awareness of their work, or if you are a business with surplus food, you can use Plan Zheroes’ online platform to donate it to those in need.
