Can You Support Someone into Education or Employment?
TUTORS URGENTLY NEEDED! People able to tutor at GCSE/ AS / A LEVEL in the following subjects Maths, Physics and Chemistry. We do not have enough volunteers to meet the growing demand for these subjects and we are having to turn people away.
We ask volunteers for a minimum commitment of one hour a week, at the same time, on the same day (mainly Mondays), in a specific subject, for one academic term, held at the South Bank Centre.

Upgrade Yourself is an innovative programme of educational support, that uses regular one-to-one academic tuition, peer-mentoring, and co-learning activities to help young people acquire learning in ways that are meaningful and effective for them. The programme is extremely effective and participation significantly increases academic performance and aspirations, enabling our young people to progress into Higher Education, including attending elite universities such as Oxford and King’s College London.
The core activity is our twice-weekly academic programme. Staff and volunteers tutor or mentor participants in specialist subject areas, with an average improvement of at least two grades for regular attendees.
Upgrade Yourself also includes educational outreach to schools, local communities and an informal education programme that complements academic commitments, to develop transferrable skills. The aim is to increase social and cultural capital, through exploring effective communication, time management, educational structures, personal development, well-being and careers’ orientated delivery.
Whatever your specialism, or preference, be it helping on an ad hoc basis as a mentor, offering CV, interview skills and careers support, or tutoring a young person for an hour a week during a school term; help is always appreciated!
