Explore how drama helps young people achieve their potential

Bankside and You Opportunity
STEP Conference 2013: Who Needs Theatre and Drama?
Surrey Quays Road
London SE16 7AP

Part One 9.30am - 4.45pm; Part Two 6pm - 9pm

At this time of unprecedented cuts and educational reorganisation, this STEP conference will explore the value of theatre and drama with children and young people. The event will be a lively mix of films, performance, discussion and debate, allowing delegates to share case studies and experiences of theatre and drama with young people in Southwark.

The intended audience is funders, teachers, artists, academics, young people, policy makers, students, and anybody shaping or thinking about the future of drama with young people.

STEP is a Better Bankside Community Partner. It is a Southwark-wide partnership linking the theatre community and education and youth sector. STEP encourages Southwark’s young people to achieve their full potential through the creative force of theatre and performing arts activities.

Speakers include:

Riz Ahmed – actor and STEP Patron

Mary Jane Edwards – The Bond for Hope and The Big Society Network

Dr Anton Franks - Institute of Education, University of London

Fin Kennedy – Award-winning playwright and teacher

Steve Moffitt – A New Direction
