    Southwark Playhouse performance

After six glorious years presenting award-winning theatre under the atmospheric arches by London Bridge Station, not to mention cutting it as one of London’s leading studio/Off West End theatres, Southwark Playhouse has relocated for the next few years to another atmospheric venue.

To make way for the London Bridge Station redevelopment, which will be completed in 2018, the theatre has moved to a huge warehouse at Newington Causeway in the heart of Southwark. The Main House here will have 100 more seats than their previous home and to replace the seating they need to raise £21,600 – or £90 a seat. Can you help them? You will not only be supporting Southwark Playhouse in its exciting relocation but also contributing to the enjoyment and comfort of audience members!

If you can donate the cost of one seat, you will receive an exclusive invitation to the opening night of the first show in the new venue. In addition, should you wish it, your name or company name or that of the person you’ve designated as the supporter of Southwark Playhouse, can be engraved on the seat plaque*.

The theatre is very lucky to have been given a space within the new London Bridge development but they will be at 77-85 Newington Causeway for the next few years. This is just a five-minute walk from Borough Tube (Northern Line) and Elephant & Castle Tube (Bakerloo Line).

In the meantime, the new venue has 2,000 more square feet to play with which means that the theatre will be able to have a bar and café that will be open to everyone all day, a Main House that will seat up to 240, a Studio Space that will seat up to 120, a dedicated space for rehearsals and education work and plenty of office space.

While the additional seats will help generate more income for the theatre, there’s still a lot more money to raise. If you can make any donation towards their target it would be very welcome and gratefully received. Donate Here

(* Southwark Playhouse’s un-numbered, non-designated seating policy means this will not be your specific seat when attending as a member of the audience)
