Speak up soon! Last chance to apply to be a Trustee of Speakers Trust

Bankside and You Opportunity
Your business skills can help others find their voice in public

Local charity Speakers Trust is looking to recruit three or four additional trustees, including an Honorary Treasurer, to join its Board. The organisation is the UK’s leading public speaking training charity and this is an excellent opportunity to play a part in driving the success of an organisation that has a tangible impact on young people and adults alike, but please hurry, as applications need to be in by Tuesday 27 August.

The Speakers Trust vision is a society where everybody has the skills, confidence and desire to speak in public and their mission is to promote the lifetime benefits of effective public speaking. Speakers Trust is a long-time supporter of Better Bankside’s Events Academy, training the students in public speaking each year. If you have attended the Events Academy in the past you will have seen Speakers Trust in action through the young people’s confident and eloquent delivery.

The Speakers Trust Board is responsible for the overall activities of the charity. This includes organisational strategy, resourcing and risk management, as well as overseeing its overall charitable and trading activity. This is an exciting time for the organisation and new Trustees will require an understanding of strategy and the importance of marketing, fundraising and business development to achieve successful outcomes. Trusteeships are initially for a period of three years and will involve working with other Trustees to support the CEO and management team in developing and achieving the strategic plans of the organisation.

Speakers Trust is particularly interested to hear from people who have experience in the following key areas:

  • Accountancy/Finance
  • Computing/IT
  • Education and/or Policy and Public sector
  • Fundraising/Business Development

If you are interested and have the skills they are looking for, the application form and descriptions of the Trustee and Honorary Treasurer roles can be found at:

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 27 August. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by 4 September and invited to meet the organisation on 12 or 16 September.
