Merge is Better Bankside’s acclaimed month-long annual arts, music and performance festival, curated by Illuminate Productions. This year’s festival, from 19th September – 20th October 2013, brings artists together in experimental partnerships in unusual venues and situations, drawing on Bankside's rich heritage, local identity and contemporary culture.

Merge needs two volunteer Project Managers to start as soon as possible, to help organise the logistics of the festival at various events and help the artists to install their work before and during the festival.

To perform the volunteer PM role you will need to be self confident and have had relevant experience as you will be expected to use your initiative to ensure various events run smoothly.

Skills and experience needed:

  • Project manager experience with exhibitions and events
  • Strong IT skills
  • Good timekeeping
  • Ability to be organised and self-motivated
  • Good eye for detail
  • Ability to think outside the box
  • Co-operative and communicative
  • Work well with a team
  • Good at problem solving
  • Flexible and easy going

This is a substantial opportunity and requires a similar level of commitment – and it starts now: one day a week (Monday to Friday) starting immediately, going up to two days a week during September and October, with some weekend work. Volunteer PMs will need their own laptop, Mac or PC.

Lunch and travel expenses will be reimbursed. This role is based in Bankside, with the option for some home working.

About Illuminate Productions

Illuminate is a not-for-profit curatorial organisation providing a platform for artists, musicians and performers.

They aim to open up London’s lost buildings and spaces, enabling artists to make site-specific work in unusual and challenging contexts. The artists involved are both emergent British artists and established international artists.

These projects not only benefit the artists and musicians involved but have a direct impact on the local community.
