Road closures in the neighbourhood

Current closures: Tower Bridge and Tooley Street. Need to know what's planned on the roads? Check here to find out more about planned closures

Rennie Street

Will be closed from 24 November – 21 December 2016 inclusive, more information to follow

Tooley Street, One Way

Until 2018 only westbound vehicular traffic can use Tooley Street between Bermondsey Street and Borough High Street - cyclists can travel in both in directions to allow for demolition and changes to site boundaries.

Tower Bridge, Closure

From Saturday 1 October until Friday 30 December, Tower Bridge will be closed to all traffic while the City of London Corporation carry out major essential maintenance works. Roads in and around the area will be busier than usual. A signed diversion route will be in place, via London Bridge northbound and via Southwark Bridge southbound.

No motorised traffic or cycling is permitted across the bridge during this time and a diversion route is in place as follows:

Northbound:  crossing over London Bridge from Borough High Street to Monument and east onto Eastcheap or Fenchurch Street
Southbound:  crossing over Southwark Bridge from Upper Thames Street, to Southwark Bridge Road/Marshalsea Road and onto Great Dover Street.

Tower Bridge is on the boundary route for the Congestion Charging zone - vehicles crossing Tower Bridge don't have to pay the Congestion Charge.  Drivers that follow the signed diversion in the direction of travel shown on the road signs, won't have to pay the Congestion Charge.

Pedestrians will be able to walk across the bridge as normal, except for the following weekends from 08:00-22:00:

Saturday 26 to Sunday 27 November
Saturday 3 to Sunday 4 December
Saturday 10 to Sunday 11 December

There will be a free foot passenger ferry service during these periods.
