18 January - Better You: Qigong class

Try something new in 2019. Better Bankside members are invited to try a free one hour Qigong class in January, on either Friday 11 January, Friday 18 January or Friday 25 January, 10-11am. Email laura [at] to book a class. 

Qi means energy and gong means work or exercise. Qigong exercises form a vital part of ‘yang sheng’ (nourishing life) in Chinese. The gentle movements and standing postures aid relaxation by concentrating and calming the mind, relieving mental and physical tension and restoring ‘qi’ or vital energy. The aim of Chinese medicine is to return the body to a state of balance. Qigong exercises work on different organs (liver, heart, spleen, lung and kidney) and fundamental substances (qi, blood, essence) to create a harmony of yin and yang.

Instructor Laura Ichajapanich was born in Asia and has returned to her roots through her interest in Chinese medical and martial arts. Her goal is to inspire people to become actively involved in developing their qi (functional energy) in order to achieve an enhanced quality of life. She has a Masters degree, with distinction, in Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture) from South Bank University and spent six months at Heilongjiang University, China.

The classes will take place at Studio 2 on 1st Floor at The Colombo Centre, 34 Colombo St, SE1 8DP.
