21 June - The Great Get Together Bankside goes 'On Air'

The street party may have been cnacelled, this year as a huge community radio get together
Time and details:
From midday

Bankside Open Spaces Trust's (BOST) annual street party, The Great Get Together will be returning this year as a huge community radio get together. Over the last three years, the event has been a gathering of neighbours, friends, and those in our communities to celebrate what we have in common. With the prospect of the event being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, radio has come to the rescue, allowing the street party to be enjoyed from the comfort of living rooms, kitchens or gardens, without breaking any social distancing regulations.

Despite the party having been moved online, the much-loved festivities remain, with a virtual dog show, cat show and bake-off a taste of the entertainment on offer. Programme highlights includes celebrity contributions from Olympic medallist Tom Daley and BBC Radio 4’s Martha Kearney, music from Brothers Ignatius and The Welsh Choir, comedy from the Country Mile, performances from the London School of Samba, interviews with special guests and much more, providing something for everyone. Presented by radio hosts George Allowit and Mirella Kumbi, BOST’s Great Get Together ‘On Air’ will be taking over the airwaves with the generous support of its partners, the locally based radio station Resonance 104.4 FM, and online community station K2KRadio, broadcasting simultaneously on the day.

Schedule will be updated here.
