Did you know that London is home to six of the UK's sixteen native bat species? At dusk they come out to play; these elusive night fliers emerge from roosts throughout the city and, using a network of darkened river corridors, parks and gardens to commute, they distribute to forage on night-flying insects.

Join us for our first Bankside bat walk in five years as we explore the Bankside Urban Forest in the search for bats after dark. We are hosting this event during National Park City Week to highlight the importance of green and blue infrastructure in London. We will be using specialist detecting equipment used to monitor these protected species. We will be exploring a selection of green and other spaces in Bankside. Why not come along to found out more about bats in an urban environment?

Rachel Crookes and Stacey Cougill from Eight Associates, a Bankside-based ecology, and sustainability company will be hosting the walk which will include an introductory talk about bats in an urban environment.
