Join ghost signs expert Sam Roberts for the Bankside Ghostsigns Walk. We’ll take a stroll through Bankside, and learn about the area’s fading painted signs. Sam will tell the stories of the signs and the companies they advertised, including: production techniques; fake (or ‘faux’) ghost signs; the impact of the second world war; and the area’s industrial heritage. This is all supported with a collection of archival photography and other contextual images.
The walk was originally developed for the London Design Festival in collaboration with Better Bankside. Many of the featured signs are feature alongside over 250 from across the Capital in the book Ghost Signs: A London Story, which is available to buy at the Bankside Gallery shop.
