53 Southwark St

53 Southwark Street

Join us at the Menier Lounge, above Menier Gallery, for the launch of From The Other Side, a mass participatory artwork for Bankside which invites the people working and living across Bankside to give insight into the personalities inside the buildings.

Banksiders will be sharing messages with their neighbours and the world around them on their windows from 26 September - 13 October. The messages will join works created by selected artists who have been invited by Tate Modern's community team to join the project and give us some inspiration.  Look out for works by Alan Kitching, Alannah Currie, Array, Bob & Roberta Smith, Caroline Cardus, Davina Drummond + Yara El-Sherbini, Ian Davenport, Iman Tajik, Janette Parris, Joe Sweeney, Theresa Lola and The Ragged School.

Meet some of the artists involved, and hear from Donald Hyslop, chair of Better Bankside and Head of Regeneration and Community Partnerships at Tate Modern. This will also be a perfect opportunity to create some of your own messages ready to display and learn more about the project over drinks and nibbles.

This is very much about showing a sense of people and place; how even the greatest architecture in the world is only as good as the people who inhabit it. A place for the alternative and innovative, it will reflect Bankside’s spirit as London’s Other Side.

Register for the event here and we'll be in touch to confirm details. Use the password 'Bankside'

If you live or work in Bankside and would like to display a message please email kp [at]
