Better Bankside

18 Great Guildford Street
London SE1

Join Dale Gibson of Bermondsey Street Bees for a presentation on the craft of beekeeping in London, followed by Q&A. Bermondsey Street Bees works with local government, charities and community groups to support sustainable planting initiatives.

Wax, propolis and pollen will also be displayed and a tutored honey tasting will conclude the evening.

Topics under discussion will include:

• "Save The Bees". London's bee population is prolific and is the densest in Europe.

• Why it is not enough for urban beekeepers just to plonk down hives - each apiary should be demonstrably sustainable.

• Advice on improving pollinator forage, including free copies of the pocket-sized "Planting For Honeybees" guide.

• Examples of local planting initiatives linked to new apiary installations in the Bankside area, such as Hilton Bankside.

Throughout March, we are hosting a range of events and activities focused on learning new skills. Find out more here, and join the conversation with #BetterYou.
