Join us and archaeologist Dr Fiona Haughey for a lunchtime walk on Bankside beach.

We will be going down onto the foreshore to learn about Bankside's archaeological record. Our walk along the riverbank will reveal layers of history and enlighten you on how previous generations lived and worked in Bankside. On the Thames foreshore objects from the end of the last Ice Age lie cheek-by-jowl with those from the 21st century and every period in between. The tools, pottery, clothing, food residues and industrial remnants we will find will enable us to recreate a picture of life on the Thames over the past 10,000 years.

We will also be looking at the environmental effects of climate change and see it's impacts with our own eyes. Come along to explore the foreshore and get a new perspective of Bankside.

Please wear sensible shoes and meet us at the steps near the Founders Arms pub. The walk will start promptly at 12 noon.

This walk is one of the most popular in the Bustling Bankside series, book a place early to avoid disappointment.
