The 2020 London Marathon is fast approaching, with just 7 weeks to go. Make sure you are as prepared as can be, and crucially avoid any last-minute sports injuries, either in the lead-up to the Marathon or on the big day. The session will be led by qualified physiotherapists Dave Baker and Scott Newton from Bankside clinic Complete Physio.
Part one: Scott Newton – Marathon Preparation and Training to Avoid Injury
Scott has been qualified as a physiotherapist for 15 years. He specialises in the assessment, treatment and management of running related injuries. Scott is a highly regarded expert in prevention and treatment of injuries resulting from long distance running and marathons.
He is a keen distance runner having completed numerous half marathons, full marathons and a couple of ultra-marathons over the past 16 years. His current marathon personal best is 2 hours 37 minutes set at the TCS Amsterdam Marathon in 2016 – which he hopes to improve on!
Part two: Dave Baker – with 6 ½ weeks til the Marathon, what are the injury risks and management options?
Dave is clinical director of Complete Physio and has worked in areas of sports, NHS and private practice. Dave is an advanced practice physiotherapist and specialises in the use of diagnostic ultrasound for the assessment and management of a range of injuries. Dave has vast experience in treatment and management of sports and running injuries.
The one hour session will finish up with an interactive Q&A session.
