Join us as we celebrate the relaunch of our Gardening Club with a Sunflower Party!
Hear from Better Bankside’s very own Urban Gardener, Georgia Smith, about how you can use your lunchbreak to make a difference to our neighbourhood as well as to your own wellbeing by joining our Gardening Club.
Gardening Club meets regularly throughout the year on a Wednesday lunchtime. It’s a chance to get away from your desk, even if it’s just for 15 minutes, and reconnect with nature as you work with Georgia to improve the Bankside Urban Forest’s network of reclaimed green spaces. You don’t need to be an experienced gardener to join in, everyone who lives and works in Bankside is welcome to come along and get involved, with guidance and encouragement provided by Georgia. Over the spring and summer, the Gardening Club meets fortnightly, but at the end of the growing season, we switch to once per month with sessions moving indoors and focusing on growing activities you can do at home regardless of whether you have a garden or not. This year the Gardening Club will be championing our Sunflower Challenge to help brighten up Bankside, growing sunflower seedlings and helping us to transplant them across Bankside later in the summer. So we thought what better way to celebrate the return of our in person Gardening Club events than to throw a Sunflower Party for everyone interested in learning more about the Bankside Urban Forest and Georgia’s work as an Urban Gardener. Come along and help us plant sunflower seeds and help make our neighbourhood brighter and greener this summer.
