Bankside businesses donate Christmas parcels to 2,350 people

This year's Together at Christmas appeal is the most generous ever, with 8,000 items donated

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Bankside businesses, this year's Together at Christmas appeal is our most generous to date, breaking all previous records.

132 businesses got involved this year, hosting donation boxes in their offices with more than 8,000 gift items contributed to the appeal.  Nearly 200 volunteers helped to wrap these into gift parcels containing warm clothing, toiletries and edible treats and prepare them for delivery to 2,350 local homeless, vulnerable and older people, supported by 35 hostels, supported accommodation services, day centres, outreach services and community projects across Southwark.

We were so overwhelmed by everyone's generosity this year, that extra donations have also been made to Waterloo Food Bank, including refreshments to be handed out to families waiting to collect Christmas food parcels over the coming few days, and several large boxes of warm clothing and toiletries which will be used by the Manna Centre to support homeless and disadvantaged people over the coming months.  Several children's gifts including games and books have also been donated to St George the Martyr church on Borough High Street which will give them out to local families at their festive Make Lunch event on 27th December.

Special thanks this year are due to St Mungo's Recovery College and Menier Lounge for hosting our volunteer wrapping sessions and to ABM and PedalMe for helping to deliver nearly 120 boxes full of gift packages and extra donations.
