Throughout history Bankside has been on the other side of London’s mainstream and it retains a bold and independent spirit shaped by its past.
It was once London’s rowdy pleasure quarter, outside the walls of the city and its jurisdictions, full of gambling dens, brothels and theatres. Bankside was a natural landing place for outsiders and free thinkers.
Our goal is to ensure those who work, visit and live in Bankside understand its story, and why it's different and appealing. Better Bankside has been working with local creative agency, NB Studio, to communicate the story of Bankside through the 'London's Other Side' concept. You'll spot 'London's Other Side' popping up in spaces in Bankside, most recently with the newly designed hoardings on Southwark Street and our colourful Bankside bins will be in situ soon.
We'll be producing tools for our local businesses and storytellers which can be used to brief new starters and employees, attract talent, to help in external communications to visitors/customers/hotel guests.

There’s another side to London.
Beyond the jurisdiction of The City.
Undiscovered by outsiders.
Loved by insiders.
An ever-changing place...
That teases our wildside and thrills our artside.
Blurs our workside into our playside.
Where we live on the brightside.
And explore our darkside.
Hidden in plain sight, this is Bankside.
London’s other side.
