It's the most wonderful time of the year, and this festive season there's a special addition to Bankside... London's first Wonky Wonderland.
The Christmas installation can be seen on the newly pedestrianised Prices Street, by Hilton London Bankside. The forest is made up of 35 unconventional trees from Character Christmas Trees, a company dedicated to ensuring that even the misshapes of the Christmas tree world are able to fulfil their Christmas destiny. The trees will be dressed with fairy lights, silver birch and moss to ensure these merry misfits are just as magical as their traditionally-shaped friends.
Join us on Thursday 8 December from 5.30 - 7.30pm for a special viewing of Wonky Wonderland, complete with complimentary mince pies, roast chestnuts, mulled wine, and Christmas carols from the Bankside Baubles. RSVP here.
The Wonky Wonderland is part of the Bankside Urban Forest initiative, a long-term project dedicated to bringing new life and uses to outdoor spaces in Bankside. To ensure this festive project chimes with our green ethos, in the New Year, the trees will be chipped for bark mulch and re-used on local gardening projects. The birch logs, will be used for a log pile on the green roofs of the Hilton, to help support invertebrates up there. Biodegradable glitter will provide environmentally friendly sparkle.
Locals, Londoners and visitors are invited to enjoy Bankside’s Wonky Wonderland from the warmth of The Distillery Bar’s winter terrace. The Distillery Bar at Hilton London Bankside will be serving celebratory nibbles and mulled wine throughout December, and roast chestnuts every Thursday.
