Haberdashers’ Borough Academy is looking for Bankside professionals to share their experiences during the school’s Year 9 Careers Day on Friday 18 November.

The Careers Day will help Year 9 students, who are aged 13-14 years old, to start imagining their futures.  Learning about different careers and career pathways, as well as meeting diverse and inclusive representatives of different professions and sectors, will make a real difference to young people’s aspirations.

Better Bankside is helping to recruit volunteers to get involved with the school’s Careers Day and we’re looking for representatives from Bankside businesses from the following sectors:

  • Creative Arts and Design
  • Health and Social Care
  • Hospitality
  • Third Sector
  • Business, Engineering and Construction
  • Law and Government

The Careers Day runs from 10.30 am to 3.15 pm and volunteers can join for the whole day, or just the morning or afternoon sessions.  You’ll join one or two other volunteers from your sector, and take part in a series of 50-minute workshops, meeting different groups of students throughout the day.  As well as introducing yourself and what you do, the workshops include a Q&A session with the students and a short scenario-based activity.  Borough Academy will give you lots of guidance to make sure you’re fully prepared, including sharing the students’ questions with you in advance.
