With over 10% of Bankside commuters regularly cycling to work, the challenge is to make sure that parking places keep step with the growing demand.
Better Bankside has been working to increase cycle parking in the area for a number of years now. The latest success is the complete overhaul of the bike shed at The British School of Osteopathy on Borough High Street. Thanks to some funding made available by Transport for London through Cross River Partnership, there are now 81 spaces available for both staff and students. This frees up on street parking nearby which previously was often full due to lack of space on the premises.
Elizabeth Carter, Facilities and Purchasing Manager at BSO comments:
“The new cycle racks have made a tremendous difference. They are already proving really popular with our cyclists and look great. As an organisation, we are keen to support cycling and ensuring we have the best possible parking is an important part of that commitment”.
