Our Christmas gift appeal is back again this year, to help spread some kindness to people experiencing homelessness, those struggling with mental health issues and our older neighbours.
Now in its 15th year, Together at Christmas is our festive gift box campaign, which has seen Bankside businesses donate tens of thousands of gift items, such as hats, gloves, socks and scarves, as well as toiletries and festive food.
This year we’re using an online wish list so that Banksiders can get involved whether they’re back in their workplaces or still working from home.
What gifts are needed?
Please refer to the Together at Christmas Wishlist to see what sorts of items we’re collecting this year.
Of course, you can still set up a collection box in your workplace for colleagues to drop off donations in person too – just let us know so we can send you more details of how to organise this.
All your donated gift items will be packed by a team of volunteers at one of our wrapping activities in early December and distributed using green transport modes.
Some of the local organisations being supported this year include St Mungo’s, The Manna Society, Look Ahead, Lucy Brown House, Hopton Street Almshouses and Blackfriars Settlement, as well as other hostels and support services across Southwark.
We’re aiming to donate gifts to over 1,000 people, and if we exceed our initial targets, we’ll add more hostels, supported accommodation services and community organisations to our delivery lists as the appeal grows.
Anything you are able to give to the appeal this year is hugely appreciated.
