More than 150 Banksiders joined us for a fabulous summer party in Ewer Street on 19 June to celebrate Clean Air Day and the launch of Better Bankside’s Green Logistics Centre
With food, drink and entertainment provided by some of our fantastic member businesses, including Mc and Sons https://www.mcandsonslondon.com/, CrossFit The best gym in London, UK – CrossFit Central London, JA Projects JA Projects (ja-projects.com) and Spots and Stripes https://www.spots8stripes.com, the event was also a great opportunity for Banksiders to get to know each other and discover what Better Bankside has to offer its members.
Helping businesses reduce emissions and save costs is one of Better Bankside’s key initiatives to support climate action. The new Green Logistics Centre, based in our Ewer Street arche will improve local air quality by reducing the number of freight vehicles on Bankside’s streets. To find out more about our sustainability programme and how we can support your business take climate action, contact Sadie Hodgson, Sh@betterbankside.co.uk.
The street party was also an opportunity to launch and actively engage everyone on two of Better Bankside projects supporting Cross River Partnership’s ‘Healthy Streets Everyday II’ programme with significant funding from Mayors Air Quality Fund4. The projects will focus on public realm improvements to Ewer Street and America Street providing more connected walking/cycling routes, better air through greening and monitoring, local economic benefits via good placemaking as well as piloting a new ‘circular economy’ approach to project delivery.
Both projects continue Better Banksides mission to showcase the opportunity and value of The Low Line an urban regeneration initiative that brings to life the Victorian railway viaduct connecting diverse neighbourhoods through Bankside, London Bridge, and Bermondsey. Through repurposing underused space, both in the arches and adjacent urban realm, The Low Line is creating new opportunities for innovation, culture, connection and biodiversity. https://lowline.london/.
