COP28 brings together world leaders to drive climate action over two weeks for the 2023 UN Climate Change Conference. The conference ran between 30 November and 12 December in Dubai with over 70,000 delegates and attendees.
Whilst COP always brings in controversy around the scale and pace of action needed to address the climate crisis, one thing that is never in doubt is the importance of bringing people together to share ideas, foster collaboration and spark innovation.
And here in Bankside we’re all about practical action when it comes to climate.
Better Bankside is committed to improving the sustainability of the area and we want to keep our members connected to important debates and issues affecting their sustainability journey. We have a range of projects, events and initiatives for businesses to get involved in and are always keen to hear how else we can support them.
Over the past two weeks we’ve held a series of events to bring our members together and champion all things sustainability.
For our Climate Think-In at The Africa Centre, we were joined by Southwark Council, Temple Consulting, London Southbank University and tp bennett for a brilliant discussion around energy poverty and climate risk in Southwark and how a local insetting scheme might address these challenges together.
We dove into the world of tech with STG Advisors for a two-hour workshop on digital sustainability with practical steps for how local businesses can begin to measure their digital footprint.
Tate Modern kindly gave us a ‘behind-the-scenes’ tour of their energy systems and sustainability initiatives across the museum.
Local consultancy, FuturePlus, provided free one-to-one consulting sessions with local businesses to help them identify their sustainability challenges and provide the tools to overcome them.
Working with such brilliant local businesses is always at the heart of what we do at Better Bankside so a huge thank you to everyone who has been involved in our COP28 campaign.
