Cricketing legend and NatWest ambassador, Michael Vaughan, officially opened a brand new concept branch in Southwark Street, London on April 19th 2013. Vaughan, who is a former Ashes winning England captain, treated passers-by to photos and autographs during the busy lunch hour after cutting the ribbon to officially open the branch.
The branch, which is fully automated, offers customers a quick and efficient banking experience. With a 24/7 ATM service, and a lobby service open 8am until 8pm on weekdays, customers will be able to use automated machines to pay bills and pay in cash, cheques and coins swiftly. As well as the automated machines, the new branch has a dedicated team of multi-skilled staff to assist customers, deal with enquiries and arrange specialist appointments with Mortgage Advisers, Business Banking Managers, plus more. In addition, there are integrated iPads on site which allow customers to manage their online banking as well as download the new NatWest Mobile Banking app.
Speaking at the launch, Michael Vaughan said: “This is the first time I’ve visited a branch that is this quick and efficient. I never thought I’d see the day that an iPad featured in a bank! It certainly has a more futuristic feel and even though there are no counters, the staff here are extremely helpful and on hand to answer any queries. I think it’s extremely innovative!”
Managing Director London Region for NatWest, Phil Northey said: “At NatWest we are dedicated to enhancing our customer experience. The new Southwark Street branch is a 'branch of the future' prototype, offering customers faster and easier ways to manage their money as well as face to face service, account opening and advice. The branch is the first example of how we hope to develop NatWest branches across the UK.”
