EmploySE1 advertises its 1000th job

EmploySE1 is a free to use recruitment service funded by four Business Improvement Districts, including Vauxhall One, to support local businesses in providing opportunities to local residents.

In December 2013, just in time for the scheme's 3rd year anniversary, the website advertised its 1000th job to unemployed residents of Southwark and Lambeth.

The news was welcomed by the team, “This clearly proves that local businesses are keen to recruit local residents”, says Rutie Mupfurutsa, EmploySE1 Manager. “It’s great to see businesses registering with us and promoting their vacancies. The employers are also keen to provide other opportunities such as workshops and advice to schools or local community projects such as job fairs. We are passionate about helping the long-term unemployed and with the help of the BIDs I am sure 2014 is going to be a great year.”

The job roles on offer vary, from chefs and security staff, to office workers and construction. There are also an increasing number of voluntary and part-time roles which are ideal for parents returning to work or some residents needing work experience to get them back into the job market.

EmploySE1 is a free service for businesses in London SE1 and SE11. Businesses that have a vacancy can register online and post a vacancy. Once the vacancy is registered the details will go out to registered local employment support agencies based in Southwark or Lambeth. The agencies send back applications or CVs of ideal local candidates and the employer selects who they would like to employ.

EmploySE1 is funded and supported by Better Bankside, Team London Bridge, Waterloo Quarter and Vauxhall One Business Improvement Districts.
