2016 has been a great year so far for EmploySE1. Since January, the team has advertised over 350 jobs, including chefs, waiters, business development managers, support workers and interns. With over 375 businesses registered with the service, they are expecting a lot more jobs by December.
“Our employers are understanding the benefits of local recruitment.” says Rutie Mupfurutsa, EmploySE1 Manager. “Local staff aren’t affected by transport issues and they are always more committed to the local area. Employers tell us all the time that the local workforce stay with them longer.”
EmploySE1 is a free recruitment site set up in 2011 by three Business Improvement Districts (Better Bankside, Team London Bridge and WeAreWaterloo) in order to help their members recruit local residents into their jobs. Over 200 local residents have been placed into work since it started and this year the team expects a record breaking number of jobs to be advertised on the site.
Any business based in London SE1 can register online and post a vacancy for free. The team will go out to their local contacts to find the right candidate to match the needs of the employer. The employer then selects the best candidate to offer an interview or job. EmploySE1 also promotes local recruitment days and career fairs on behalf of their registered businesses.
