Banksiders, we can’t wait to welcome you back and reignite the buzz that makes Bankside so special and vibrant.

We understand that the last year has been especially challenging for Bankside’s hospitality and consumer-facing businesses. We’ve put together a host of practical initiatives and services to support your reopening plans, keep staff motivated and drive local spend.

Download our Roadmap to Return to see ways we are supporting businesses to reopen and staff to return.

Outdoor dining

As part of the Government’s plans to revive the hospitality industry, new laws and processes have been implemented to support outdoor dining.

The Business and Planning Bill was introduced back in 2020 to streamline the process for premises to apply for a street furniture or table and chair licence, known as a pavement licence.

We want to support our licensed businesses to get operations up and running smoothly and have produced additional guidance to help support members through this process, signpost you to relevant information on-line and advise on good practice.

If you would like support on an application or your application has been rejected by the council, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Please email Josephine Clarke, jc@betterbankside.co.uk.

Outdoor tables and chairs

If you would like additional seating outside your premises, we can loan you some BB pink tables and chairs. Please contact Miguel Ferreira if you would like to find out more, mf@betterbankside.co.uk.

Social distancing floor vinyls

Freethinkers stand apart! We’ve produced a series of fun #BanksideRules floor markers to encourage social distancing (with a smile) around key footfall areas and shop entrances. If you would like to display some outside your business, please contact Josephine Clarke, jc@betterbankside.co.uk.

Marketing support

Our strength is in our collective; we work in partnership with consumer facing businesses to promote Bankside and all it has to offer, driving exploration across the whole neighbourhood. The marketing support your business can access includes:

  • A listing on our new Bankside London website launching very soon
  • Features in our weekly Bankside London newsletter which goes out to 15K subscribers
  • Send us content for our Bankside London social channels (Twitter and Instagram) and run competitions with us to boost your followers.

If you would like to find out more about the above please contact Josephine Clarke, jc@betterbankside.co.uk and Chelsea Bodenham, cb@betterbankside.co.uk.

Offer a Buzz card discount to local workers

The Better Bankside Buzz card is a local discount scheme designed to encourage local employees to shop, explore and do business locally. The card is free to own and easy to use. We provide both a digital and physical Buzz card for users.

We promote Buzz offers through our Better Bankside newsletter and you can browse the full list of current offers here. If you would like to run an offer, please contact Chelsea Bodenham, cb@betterbankside.co.uk.
