Find out how to get involved in the #2millionchallenge paper cup recycling initiative…

7 million disposable coffee cups are thrown away every day in the UK, with only 4% of these recycled.

In partnership with Team London Bridge BID, we’ve joined forces with recycling experts Paper Round to launch a paper cup recycling scheme spanning the combined BID areas, with improved infrastructure in both businesses and the public realm.

The short term goal is to collect and recycle 2 million paper cups throughout 2020 #2millionchallenge, with the long term goal of increasing use of ‘keep cups’ and resuable mugs.

The project is facilitated by The Cup Fund, a national initiative run by environmental charity Hubbub with support from Starbucks UK.

How can my business get involved in the #2millionchallenge?

  • Order a bespoke recycling bin for your workplace to enable staff and customers to dispose of their cups responsibly.
  • Have a free seminar delivered by Paper Round on how you can improve recycling across all waste streams and become a more sustainable business.
  • Encourage staff and customers to use the new network of public bins with the help of our promotional materials.

How much will it cost?

A recycling bin and signage kit is just £104 (a 50% discount has been applied). Further savings are available on collection costs

Where will my coffee cup end up?

They will be collected by recycling partner Paper Round and sent to specialist firm James Cropper and turned into new paper products via their unique CupCycling™ process.
