The Thameslink programme will provide platforms for longer, more spacious north-south trains through London and increase the number of trains able to run through central London. It is an exciting project that will result in a modernised London Bridge station able to service the needs of rail users for the future.
However, in order to achieve this, substantial building work is taking place at London Bridge station and from 20th December 2014 throughout 2015 this will cause service changes that may effect your travel if you currently travel to or through London Bridge rail station. Please note that the Tube station is not affected!
You can check if your own journey is effected on the thameslink website before you travel. Some train services will not be stopping at London Bridge so checking beforehand will allow you to catch the most convenient train for you.
Four quick tips for travel during this time:
- interchange en route (outside of Central London) if you can
- use an alternative means of transport such as the bus, the tube or walking to finish your journey. You can check online to see which routes your ticket will be accepted on at www.ThameslinkProgramme.co.uk.
- if you would like to take this opportunity to walk or cycle the last part of your journey, Better Bankside are able to provide walking maps or trial loans of folding bikes to help you explore your alternatives. Just get in touch if you would like to know more.
- Finally, for free text reminders about the changes tailored to your home station, just text TLP2 and your home station to 60777.
