London's first Open Streets comes to Bankside!

Come to London’s first Open Streets on Saturday 30th of May on Great Suffolk Street. Open Streets are safe, fun, car-free spaces where you can play, walk, bike, run, or just relax and see your city in a whole new way.

London’s first Open Streets event is coming to Great Suffolk Street on Saturday the 30th of May.

Great Suffolk Street will be closed to motor traffic between 11:00 to 16:00, creating a safe, fun, car-free space where you can play, walk, bike, run, or just relax and see your city in a whole new way.

Dozens of local businesses and exciting eateries have been getting involved and will be out on the street for the day. Local community groups will offer the chance to discover activities ranging from bee keeping to children’s crafts, from football to historic dancing.

Better Bankside will be monitoring air quality on the day and will be on site to explain the public realm improvements planned for Great Suffolk Street this year.

Southwark Street and Southwark Bridge Road will remain open to traffic, and the junction with Great Suffolk Street will be marshaled.

Born in Latin America 40 years ago, the Open Streets movement seeks to connect people and places. Hundreds of events take place every year across cities in Europe, Africa, South and North America.

Open Streets London is still seeking volunteers for the event. To get involved or to raise any queries, email gss [at] openstreetslondon.com
