Better Bankside member Ofcom came second in the 500+ employees category of the London Cycle Challenge. An impressive 81 colleagues took part, of which 8 were new riders, and between them cycled 7,786 miles (12 530 km). This is more than the distance from London to Jakarta in Indonesia!
Meanwhile, in the 200-499 staff bracket Allies & Morrison, an architecture firm based in Bankside, rode to top spot with more than 1 in 5 employees getting on their bikes to take part. Between them the two companies rode the equivalent distance of cyling half way around the world.
A number Better Bankside businesses took part in this year's London Cycle Challenge which took place in June. The Challenge involves logging every single mile cycled but also how many new cyclists are signed up.
In all, 404 organisations registered, 5482 people signed up, 34,548 trips were made and 413,568 miles cycled with 394 new riders trying out cycling as part of the commute.
