Thousands of mobile phones are stolen in London every year and more recently, this has involved an increase in snatches by criminals riding on bikes. These thefts particularly occur at busy locations such as outside the tube or at traffic lights junctions, and often victims are distracted whilst talking or texting on phones. Better Bankside want to prevent all Banksiders from being the next victim with our phone safety campaign that’s continuing to be rolled out across the district.

This week, floor vinyls are being installed along side leaflets and posters in offices, retailers, restaurants and bars, in a bid to prevent further thefts by:

  • Raising awareness of the risk of mobile phone theft in hotspot areas.
  • Encouraging the public to be aware of their surroundings and take steps to minimise their vulnerability to theft.
  • Providing advice on what users can do that can help to minimise the impact should their phone be stolen.
  • Developing partnerships with member businesses to raise awareness, especially hospitality to target the night time economy.

If you would like to find out more about this campaign, or order posters, leaflets or vinyls for you business, simply email our Resilience and Crime Reduction Manager, Diane Newton, at DN@betterbankside.co.uk with your company name, address, desired posters/leaflets, and required quantity.
