Retaining Staff Value Throughout Illness

Heaps of resources for manager's best practice in staff illness

The turnout at this months breakfast briefing made it clear that it's not always easy to deal with a colleague's physical or mental health worries. Many  came to learn more about ways that they could follow best practice by introducing Occupational Therapy into the workplace.

Occupational Therapy can objectively assess:

  • What employers are expected to do to fulfil their obligations to staff
  • What the employee can and can’t continue to do as a result of their illness
  • What is needed to enable the employee to continue working safely and effectively
  • What the employee’s progress could look like over time

Jain Holmes, one of the country’s leading occupational therapists and an expert in vocational rehabilitation, offered her time to share the possible first steps that OT can provide for a business or employee, and the significant benefits that these steps can bring.
