Toxicity Charge is coming to central London

Make sure you're aware of the new Toxicity Charge being introduced on 23 October 2017

On 23 October 2017, Transport for London will introduce the Toxicity Charge (T-Charge). Aimed at improving air quality, reducing congestion and creating safer and healthier streets, the T-Charge applies to cars and vans, minibuses, buses and coaches, and heavy goods vehicles traveling in central London.

From implementation, vehicles need to meet a minimum exhaust emission standards or pay a daily £10 Emissions Surcharge (also known as the Toxicity Charge). The T-Charge will be in addition to the Congestion Charge.

The T-Charge will operate in central London, where congestion is the worst and where air quality is heavily impacted. See more information on the T-Charge location here

Emission Standards

The minimum emission standards are Euro 4/IV for both petrol and diesel vehicles and Euro 3 for motorised tricycles and quadricycles.

Vehicle Compliance

To check if your vehicle is affected by the T-Charge, Transport for London has developed an easy-to-use tool.

The T-Charge will end when the Ultra Low Emission Zone comes into force, in 2019.
