Walk to Work Week 2013: How many miles will you clock up?

5 days worth of free walking activity to encourage you to get out and about on foot. Plus free promotional goodies from the Bankside Speed Walkers!

From Monday 13th to Friday 17th of May thousands of employees all over the UK will be ditching the Tube, leaving the car behind, and boycotting their buses to take part in Living Street’s national Walk to Work Week campaign. Part of the Great British Walking Challenge, Walk to Work Week is one of the greenest, healthiest and easiest workplace challenges around. So get ready to put your work shoes in your back pack, dig out those comfy trainers and hit the streets!

Better Bankside are serious about getting as many people as possible to take part. For this reason Bustling Bankside will be holding an extra cultural walking tour and Bankside Speed Walkers will be hitting the streets for three extra lunchtime speed walks. This means that living too far from work is no excuse for not getting out and walking more. We will be handing out free ‘Bankside Speed Walkers’ back packs and announcing our September fundraising event ‘The Urban Amble’, a fun 10K charity walk scheduled for the evening of 12th September 2013. It couldn’t get any better!

Monday 13th May – meet at Flat Iron Square at 1.10pm for a 40 minute speed walk

Tuesday 14th May – meet at Flat Iron Square at 1.10pm for a 40 minute speed walk

Wednesday 15th May – meet outside the Bankside Community Space at 1pm for a 60 minute walking tour of the Tate Modern extension

Thursday 16th May - meet at Flat Iron Square at 1.10pm for a 40 minute speed walk

Friday 17th May - meet at Flat Iron Square at 1.10pm for a 40 minute speed walk

Come along to one or all of these free and fun lunchtime walks to celebrate Walk to Work Week 2013 and The Urban Amble. Return to work energised and with your brand new ‘Bankside Speed Walkers’ backpack! Please see the events page for more information and to book.

From Monday 13th May everyone registered on the Walk to Work Week website will be able to log their miles, minutes and steps walked. You can see individual as well as workplace totals of miles walked, calories burned and potential carbon dioxide savings.

Let’s make 2013 the biggest Walk to Work Week Bankside has ever had!
