Better Bankside’s community wardens came to the rescue of a homeless man after he was assaulted on the morning of Wednesday 10. The victim claims to have been pushed over in an apparently random attack. Thankfully, specially trained wardens were able to administer first aid and call the emergency services for further assistance.

Councillor Michael Situ, cabinet member for environment, recycling, community safety and volunteering: "This intervention demonstrates the important role that uniformed officers play at a time when we are seeing fewer police officers on our streets".

Details of the man have been shared with the homelessness charity, St Mungos Outreach Team. The local police team have been sent a report of the incident.
