Better Bankside can help you and your organisation play an active role in our neighbourhood.

Better Bankside supports its members to be responsible businesses, helping them play an active part in our neighbourhood. Our Corporate Responsibility programme connects businesses with local community organisations, schools and residents’ groups, building partnerships that make a positive difference across Bankside and Southwark.

Volunteering

Better Bankside’s volunteering programme makes it easy to use your volunteering time and make an impact in our community.

  • Join Better Bankside’s monthly volunteering events delivered in partnership with local charities such as Blackfriars Settlement, Bankside Open Spaces Trust and Plan Zheroes.
  • Get involved in Bankside Futures, our summer career discovery programme for 16-18 year olds from Southwark, that introduces them to Bankside’s diverse mix of employers and roles, whilst helping them build key skills for the workplace.
  • Take part in seasonal campaigns such as the Bankside Christmas Gift Appeal, helping wrap and distribute gifts for nearly 1,000 local people.
  • Looking for opportunities for your team or business? The Bankside Community Exchange makes it easy to find local charities, community groups and other organisations to support through volunteering, sharing skills and resources, or fundraising.
  • Bespoke support from Community Southwark’s business partnerships service can help find tailored opportunities for your team, including team challenge days and ways to share your skills, knowledge and resources with community organisations across Southwark.
  • Help young people access meaningful work experience by working with the Central London Careers Hub, which connects employers with local schools and colleges through flexible opportunities such as careers talks, workplace visits and work experience.

Developing your Responsible Business strategy

We can help your business develop its approach to being a responsible business, whether that’s setting up a charity partnership or volunteering programme, building a more inclusive workplace culture, or rethinking your recruitment to create job opportunities for underrepresented groups.

Our responsible business advice also includes connecting you to other Better Bankside services and projects that can help reduce your environmental impact and support employee wellbeing.

SEEDL, our online learning platform, provides access to a range of ESG and diversity and inclusion courses to help build knowledge and strengthen your responsible business approach.
