Access to green space is a top priority for businesses in the area. Through the Bankside Urban Forest initiative, a wide range of new green projects have been and continue to be implemented in the streets across Bankside, ranging from transformations like the Keppel Row Garden and Stoney Street Green Wall to temporary and creative projects like the Metal Box Garden on America Street or the Better Air Benches delivered through the Low Emissions Neighbourhood.
Since 2013 we have employed a full-time urban gardener to help us maintain these new spaces and to run regular lunchtime gardening sessions for local workers, who are welcome to pop along and do some gentle gardening during their lunch breaks.
Better Bankside is the first Business Improvement District to attain a Green Flag Award recognising the quality of its management of its on-street green spaces across the area.
