Together at Christmas

Help spread some kindness this Christmas to people experiencing homelessness, mental health issues and our older neighbours.

Together at Christmas is Better Bankside’s annual festive gift appeal that spreads a little kindness to people experiencing homelessness, mental health issues and older people in the Bankside area and across Southwark.  Every year, Bankside businesses donate thousands of gift items such as warm clothing, toiletries, and festive food, which are wrapped by teams of volunteers into gift parcels ready to be delivered to hostels, supported accommodation units, and community organisations across Southwark.

This year, we are using an online wish list so that Banksiders can contribute whether they’re back in their workplaces or working from home.

It’s a really easy way to donate exactly the type of gifts that are needed, and everything donated this way will be delivered to Better Bankside in time for wrapping in early December.

Together at Christmas Wishlist

Alternatively, you can still run a collection in your office, using the Wishlist as a guide to the types of items we need.  If you’re planning to do this, please let us know by completing our short registration form so we can send you further information about getting involved.

Or why not help at one of our volunteer wrapping sessions in December?  These will take place between 7  – 10 December at a location in the Bankside area.  Sign up now using password ‘Bankside’.

All gift donations must be received by Wednesday 8 December at the latest so that they can be wrapped and delivered ahead of Christmas celebrations at the many hostels and other community organisations we support.

Who will receive the gifts?

This year, we are aiming to deliver gift parcels to over 1000 people in Bankside and across Southwark this year. The local organisations that we are supporting include:

  • St Mungo’s
  • Lucy Brown House
  • Blackfriars Settlement
  • The Manna Society
  • Robes Project
  • Hopton Street Almshouses
  • Look Head services in Bankside, Elephant & Castle, Camberwell, Walworth, and Peckham

As the appeal grows, we’ll be adding more organisations to our delivery lists.  With your help, we can support even more people at Christmas this year.
